The chaffinch is the bird that announces winter has come. When spring is new, the twittering swallow returns to us. The cuckoo lets us know that it sees summer on the way. Only in autumn can one see flycatchers.

Von den vier zeiten deß Jars.

Der Finck thut uns anzeigen frey
Das der Winter vorhanden sey
Wider zu uns in dem Früling
Sich nahet der schwetzig Schwalb ring
Der Guckgauch zeigt mit seim gsang
Das im nach dem Sommer sey bang

In dem Herbst so man Most eynführt.
