Ceulx qui tendent aulx choses haul-
taines, souvent tombent bas.

Comme ung chasseur rhetz aulx oyseaulx tendoit,
Et traictz en l’air aulx grues debendoit,
Sur ung serpent marcha: qui pour mal tel
En le mordant gecta venim mortel:
Ainsi mourut les yeulx trop hault levant,
Ne prenant garde ce qu’estoit devant.[1]

Il ne fault pas praetendre choses si haultes,
que l’on ne regarde la fortune imminente,
& prochaine.
