Villosae indutus piscator tegmina caprae,
Addidit ut capiti cornua bina suo,
Fallit amatorem stans summo in littore sargum[1],
In laqueos simi quem gregis ardor agit.
Capra refert scortum: similis fit sargus amanti,
Qui miser obsceno captus amore perit.

When a fisherman has dressed himself in a shaggy she-goat skin and placed twin horns on his head, he stands at the edge of the beach, and tricks the passionate sargus, whom desire for the snub-nosed herd drives into the trap. - The she-goat represents the whore, the sargue is like the lover, who perishes, wretched fellow, in the toils of unwholesome love.

PRima huius comparationis pars sumpta est ab
Aeliano lib. De Animalibus I. cap. 23. Ut Sargus
piscis facilè à piscatore capitur, si caprinam
pellem induerit. genus enim hoc piscis instin-
ctu quodam naturae, amore caprarum detinetur: ita
deperit amasius visa quadam formosula, vel potius
larvata capra, cuius laqueis irretitus, vix se inde
potest extricare.

Contre ceux qui ayment les putains.

LE pescheur revestu & couvert de la peau
D’une Chevre, s’en va pescher du long de l’eau,
Cornu en teste estant, le Sarget il appaste
Qui ayme trop la chevre, & se coule, & se haste
De se rendre aux fillets tendus par le pescheur:
Voila comme l’amour luy cause ce mal’heur.
La Chevre est la putain infame & piperesse:
Le Sarget, l’amoureux, qui d’extreme destresse
Se sentant prins ez lacs de si villain desir
Où il s’est mis, en fin en meurt de desplaisir.

LA premiere partie de ceste comparai-
son est prinse d’Aelian. liv. I. de l’histoi-
re des animaux, chap. 23. Comme le poisson nommé
Sarget est prins aisément par le pes-
cheur, s’il se vest d’une peau de chevre. car
par un certain instinct de nature ceste ma-
niere de poisson la ayme les chevres: ainsi
l’amoureux se transit ayant veue quelque
bellote, ou une chevre coiffee, pour mieux
dire, aux fillets de laquelle estant retenu ja-
mais ne s’en peust d’espestrer sinon à bien
grand’ peine.
