Prenne mollesse, & mignardise, Comme
Si femme il fust sans barbe coimpt, & miste.
En se fardant (s’il a visage triste)
Se colorant de cerusse, & de pourpre.
Brief, à tout geste effeminé soit propre.
Ainsi orné vers sa desirée aille.
Et doux devis de parolles luy baille,
Entremeslant petite mignardise
Qui peu à peu le feu d’amour attise.
Puys les baisers adjoigne bouche à bouche.
Finalement les membres nuz attouche.
Le demourant luy don’ra doux coulant

Avoit le Nymphe en l’habit deguisé,
Et au maintien de Diane, & en l’eage:)

Femme à Cesar Dictateur, fut trompée:
Par un Rommain nommé Claude le Bel[1].
Repudiée apres, sans nul rappel.

1.  Read ‘Clodius’: the famous patrician politician and gang-leader Publius Clodius Pulcher, the enemy of both Cicero and Caesar, changed his name from Claudius to a more plebeian form in order to be elected Tribune of the People. The line refers to the famous scandal of the festival of the Bona Dea, after which Caesar famously divorced his young wife, Pompeia, with the immortal maxim that Caesar’s wife must be above even suspicion. (See Plutarch, Life of Caesar, 9.1 and following).
