In caelo nusquam sydera clara micant:
Sic nec virtutes mortalis possidet ullus,
Ni mentem vitiis exuat ille priùs.

Unless the wind first blasts the clouds apart, nowhere on earth do the bright stars shine: so no mortal will have virtues unless he strips his mind of faults before.
