Aedificata solo fuerint quae templa pallustri,
Terra tremat quamvis, nulla pericla timent:
Sic humilis Fortuna malis obnoxia paucis
Creditur: at magnos magna ruina manet.

Temples, if built on marshy soil, need fear no dangers however the earth shakes; so also humble Fortune is less hostile, with fewer evils; but great ruin waits upon the great.

Les bastimentz qui sont en lieu infime,
Tremblant la terre ont peu de detriment:
Fortune aussi, gens d’estat sublime
Plus qu’aux petitz donne peine et tourment.
