Quàm meriṭ placidas felix movet ille choreas,
Cui fors dulcisonum fundit ab ore melos,
At caveas, ne te tam mendax fistula prodat:
Dulcis & in lachrymas incidat ille sonus.

How happily he begins the peaceful dancing, for whom chance pours out musical melody from a sweet mouth. But beware! Let not the lying flute betray you, and that sweet sound fall into tears.

Bien peut danser, à qui Fortunesone,
Mais que le chant dure longue sayson:
Lors que son chant plus doucement resone,
Garde toy bien de son mortel poyson.
