La main qui tient ceste trompe volante
Veut figurer la bonne renommee

Doit bien garder orgeuil donner lieu.
Car d’elle n’est ce qu’elle n’est blasmee.

Ne tumeas fastu, si non ingloria nomen
Fama tibi & laudes addidit egregias.
Sic te larga Dei excepit clementia: cujus
Iste tibi solo munere cessit honor.

Do not puff yourself up at the day of judgment if glorious fame bestows reputation and excellent praise on you. Thus the generous mercy of God singled you out, beside Whose one reward (i.e. salvation) honour cedes its place.
