lxxi.

Haec nummos facit esse deos, quae cogere nummos
In loculos numquam cessat avara suos:
Et semper, tam caeca, cupidine fertur habendi,
Impia ut in coelis negligat esse Deum.

This covetous woman, who never stops gathering money into her purse, makes money into gods; and the faithless woman is always moved by the lust of possession, so blind that she pays no attention to the fact that God is in heaven.
