Pour bien de soy voir la laideur, ou tache,
Cest homme avoit miroir propre luisant:
Mais comme fol contre la clarté crache:

O ungrateful one

lxxv.

Cùm maculas, vultusque notas discernere posset,
Ingratus clarum despuit in speculum:
Plurima sunt quís se divina potentia prodit,
Nos vetat, ah, nostri cernere caecus amor.

Since he could discern the spots and stains of his face, the ungrateful man spat on the clear mirror; there are many things through which divine power reveals itself but alas blind self-love prevents our seeing them.
