1.  The image in Paradin, 1551, lacks the arrow.

2.  Diane de Poitiers, as mistress of King Henri II, was thus totally dependent on his favour for her livelihood, rendering this motto even more relevant. Her status was demonstrably secure, however, by the fact that he honoured her by sharing one of her symbols, the crescent moon of Diana (see previous emblem, ‘Donec totum impleat orbem’, [FPAb010]).
