Layout

115 numbered emblems: the title, woodcut and Latin poems are disposed on the versos, in the normal Wechel arrangement for Latin-only editions, while the corresponding German translations appear on the facing rectos. The longer poems call for variations on this arrangement. Latin text in 'Aldine' italic, 84 mm for 20 lines; German text in italic, 58 mm for 10 lines. The Latin text is in substantiually the same setting as in the Latin-only and Latin/French editions of 1542 (F.011-012).
