Quanto sia dannosa la gola.

How harmful greed is.


Il Topo avezzo a roder le vivande,
Un di mal di mangiar satio e contento
Un’Ostriga trovo capace e grande,
Che a caso tenea aperto il monumento.
Ei v’entra audace, e cerca in quelle bande:
Ella tosto si chiude, e’l serra drento.
Cosi la gola’che meschin condusse,
A perpetua prigion sciocco l’addusse.

Le captif pour sa gourmandise.

Le Rat regnant au cellier, rongeant tout,
Des huystres vit baillantes par ung bout:
Sa barbe y mit: & faulx os il atrappe,
Lesquelz touchéz feirent tomber la trappe,
Et le larron en prison hont tenu,
Qui par soy mesme en sa fosse est venu.[1]

Plusieurs se rendent serfz, captifz aulx bonnes
maisons: seullement pour les bons morseaulx, Plu-
sieurs aussi font leur fosse avec les dens, se procurans
mort avant eage, par exces de gourmandise.
