Disuguaglianza.

Inequality.

Qual pelegrin falcon in alto ascende,
E l’anitre si stan gił ne li stagni,
Cosi il Bembo nel cielo il volo prende,
E’l Tasso sene va sol pe i rigagni.[1]

Notes:

1.  In Alciato’s original, this emblem concerns Pindar's superiority over Bacchyllides. Here, Marquale transposes to contemporary poets, placing Pietro Bembo (1470-1547) over Bernardo Tasso (1493-1569), father of the more famous Torquato.
