À gosier large, hydeux cry, qui l’air rompe
Bec comme un nez ou pertuisée trompe,
Le Butor peint un grand criard figure,
Qui seulement de gueule, & ventre a cure.

Cest Emblemes’explique soy mesme, par le
Butor oiseau de grand, & long, & large bec,
de grosse & ample gorge, & de cry tel comme
d’un asne rudissant, figurant un gourmand
criard, qui n’a que le cul, & le bec.

Notes:

1.  Unusually, this emblem does not correspond to that found in this position in the 1549 edition. The disparity presumably occurred when the forme was imposed. LINK REQUIRED ‘Petit cuisine ne suffire à deux friandz’ is here found on H3ro.
