L’asne portoit d’un Sainct la chasse:
Et voyant chacun prosterner,
Cuide que ce pour luy se face:
Si pense ja tout gouverner,
Mais sur ce on le vint bastonner,
En luy parlant de telle sorte:
Sus Baudet, il faut pietonner:
Tu n’es pas Sainct, mais tu le porte.[1]

Isis. Ceux qui la rencon-
troyent, se mettoyent à
genoux, & l’adoroyent avec
grand’ devotion. Mais ce maistre baudet se faisoit à
croire, que c’estoit luy qu’on saluoit, & à qui on fai-
soit honneur, dont il devenoit fier & arrogant tout
son saoul. Ce qu’appercevant l’asnier, apres l’avoir ba-
stonné à bon escient, luy dit, Tu n’es pas Dieu, baudet,
mais tu le portes. Cest asne a beaucoup de freres. Car
il se trouve une infinité de personnes, courtisans &
autres, lesquels sous ombre qu’ils sont au service de
grands personnages, ou pour quelque autre occasion,
qui toutesfois ne leur est pas inherente, deviennent
tant rogues & fiers, qu’on ne peut durer aupres
d’eux.
