De la vicissitude ą l’inconstance sert.

Tous les biens de ce siecle: & d’eux elle se jouė:
Et monstre qu’icy bas il n’est rien qui soit seur.
Tournes doncques le dos a son incertitude,
Et cerche dans le Ciel cette beatitude
Qui ne deēoit jamais son juste possesseur.

The vicissitude of all things
UT rosa manč virens se murice cingit odoro,
Fitque rigens, vixdum sole cadente, rubus;
Sic fluit incertum vita haec sortita tenorem,
Umbrae instar; volucri subiiciturque rotae.
As the rose, blooming in the morning, girds itself with fragrant purple, so as soon as the sun is setting it becomes a stiff bramble bush. Thus this life, assigned by fate, flows its uncertain course; like a shadow, it is subordinated to the whirling wheel.
