Grandius uber habet vitis nova, pluraque vina:
Pauca gerit contrà (sed bona) vitis anus.
Plurima sic iuvenes distento verba palato

As the new vine has a bigger breast and more wine, but in old age she gives less but good,* so young men with swollen palate pour out very many words, and the old few, but better.
* anus (l. 2) ‘as an old woman’.

La jeune vigne ha vin en abondance:
La vielle peu, mais plus doux en saveur.
Les jeunes gens babillent à outrance:
Les vieux bien peu, mais leur dire est meilleur.
